Dear Coni...

  • Dear Coni,

Would you care to go out for dinner with me?

I was thinking we could go to this nice little place over in Victoria – it’s called Grand Imperial London or something.  We’ll have a quiet dinner, a glass or two of champagne between us, some scintillating conversation – just you and me, plus all the readers of TNT the following week.

Talking of whom, why should you choose me, rather than one of your doubtless scores of other potential suitors?  Three words – smart, funny, charming.  I figured with only 300 words at my disposal, it’s important to be concise; that’s why I’ve chosen words that I hope both describe me (once in a while) and you (if your articles are anything to go by!)  I’d like to add some more words like gorgeous and stunning, but given I have to submit a picture with this passage it’s going to be a bit obvious that those adjectives only apply to the one of us (i.e. not me).

So what can I say about me?  I’m a software engineer by day and a dancer by night.  Although I love both, I find people are generally more interested in one than the other!  I learn a dance called Lindy Hop – it was the huge dance craze in the 1930s and 1940s, and is fast taking over London once again; I’m getting as involved as I can and loving every minute.

It’s this that inspires my suggestion for a second date, were I to have the chance: I’ve heard of this great sounding place in Shoreditch which should be fun for a visit – a ‘20s style Speakeasy.  Promises of atmosphere, vintage glamour and some live jazz – and who knows, maybe I’d get the chance to show you some of my moves…

    Simon
